Easy Vegetarian Chili, great for playoff football!

Here is a new recipe that I made in the crock pot yesterday and it was oh so good,

To make this you will need

1 cup ea of red beans and black beans (you can use canned but the fresh were easy to make)
1/2 ea of a red pepper and a green pepper chopped
1/2 Onion chopped
15oz can of crushed tomatoes
1 small can of tomato sauce

1-2 cloves of garlic
1 package of chili powder
salt and pepper to taste

Prepare your beans according to the package, (if using canned make sure to rinse well), combine the rest of the ingredients in the crock pot and cook for about 4-5 hours on low, stirring occasionally.

And your done!

We decided to make our chili mac, place chili over pasta with cheese, onions, and a dollop of sour cream!

Happy Birthday Big Daddy!!!!!

On Saturday Ash and I went to our friend Reece's very 1st birthday party!!! It was held at Saluda Shoals Park next to the splash pad, I helped Reece's dad Stark man the grill cooking hotdogs and hamburgers for everyone, while Ashley mingled with the ladies talking baby names and the fun that comes with 21 kids at a party. We had to sneak off to the Carolina game, but we managed to snag a couple photos with the birthday boy before we had to take off.....

This was his "smash" cake, we didnt get to see him go for the glory, but I'm sure he did a fine job!

First Baby related question!?!?!?!?!

Our first doctors appointment with Ashley's OB took almost 4 hours!!!!! We both agreed that was entirely to long! After some talking with each other, we think that the practice has so many doctors that leads to so many patients, leading to all the delays. Sorry for that little rant there, back to my question,

a) How involved should the husband be at the doctors appt b) How long does it usually take for you at your OB appointments?

Thanks in advance for the responses!

Tour de South....

The reason I haven't posted lately because I was on a trip to Oklahoma for work, and by trip I mean driving!!!! I was going to post a picture of the trip meter, but apparently it resets after 2000 miles, but total I drove 2,275 miles in 3 days. I went through South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, and finally Oklahoma. Here are a couple of pictures I snapped a during my time in OK,

It was a long trip, but it was nice seeing a lot of the south, it is really amazing to see for as far as you can unobstructed by anything. I do have to say that I am very very lucky and thankful to the big guy upstairs for watching out for me, I had a really close one on the way home!
On my third day of travel, I was coming back through Alabama (that had some bad storms the night before) when my gas light came on. I planned to stop in Tuscaloosa for a refuel and a quick sit down lunch. When I arrived the power had knocked out the power and thus the pumps for gas would not run. I ended up finally finding a gas station that I could refuel at with only 3 miles remaining on my fuel gauge.
Running out of gas would have not been fun and quite honestly a little embarrassing, but that would have been the very least of my problems, the first place I stopped for gas was in the direct path of where the devastating tornado passed through in AL last night. I have been watching the clips and listening to the stories all day in awe at how lucky I was. My thoughts and prayers go to all those that have lost everything.
