First Baby related question!?!?!?!?!

Our first doctors appointment with Ashley's OB took almost 4 hours!!!!! We both agreed that was entirely to long! After some talking with each other, we think that the practice has so many doctors that leads to so many patients, leading to all the delays. Sorry for that little rant there, back to my question,

a) How involved should the husband be at the doctors appt b) How long does it usually take for you at your OB appointments?

Thanks in advance for the responses!

Tour de South....

The reason I haven't posted lately because I was on a trip to Oklahoma for work, and by trip I mean driving!!!! I was going to post a picture of the trip meter, but apparently it resets after 2000 miles, but total I drove 2,275 miles in 3 days. I went through South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, and finally Oklahoma. Here are a couple of pictures I snapped a during my time in OK,

It was a long trip, but it was nice seeing a lot of the south, it is really amazing to see for as far as you can unobstructed by anything. I do have to say that I am very very lucky and thankful to the big guy upstairs for watching out for me, I had a really close one on the way home!
On my third day of travel, I was coming back through Alabama (that had some bad storms the night before) when my gas light came on. I planned to stop in Tuscaloosa for a refuel and a quick sit down lunch. When I arrived the power had knocked out the power and thus the pumps for gas would not run. I ended up finally finding a gas station that I could refuel at with only 3 miles remaining on my fuel gauge.
Running out of gas would have not been fun and quite honestly a little embarrassing, but that would have been the very least of my problems, the first place I stopped for gas was in the direct path of where the devastating tornado passed through in AL last night. I have been watching the clips and listening to the stories all day in awe at how lucky I was. My thoughts and prayers go to all those that have lost everything.

Baby Dub, is quite the mover, he/she was moving during the whole ultra sound! I invite you all to join us and follow the blog as we go though this journey through a guys eyes!

Busy Weekend!

This weekend was slammed full of fun for Ash and I! Friday night we went to see our NATIONAL CHAMPION South Carolina Gamecocks play against the #1 Vanderbilt Commadores! We recieved some tickets from a student in Ashleys class and they were really great seats! The Gamecocks won the game in dominating fashion behing Roth's amazing night on the mound. On Saturday, I had my second Mud Run, the bad weather that never really came kept Ashley at home. My team did pretty good, a team member got hurt, but still chugged along to finish it! A real trooper!!! John's wife was on hand to take pictures as soon as she post them I will get some pictures for you! Then on Sunday we went to see the Braves play, Ash and I are both big Braves fan so it was nice to get to our first game, the braves lost a close one, but played hard!

Every Thursday Night!

Every Thurday night I play softball with a great group of guys, were not the best out there but were certianly not the worst! It is really nice to be able to get outdoors, enjoy the fresh air and move around a little. I am usually really tired on Fridays at work, but thats no big deal thats my "casual" day at work! I usually play catcher or right field! Im probably the worst hitter when it comes to distance but I am fast, so I usually can hit it on the ground and leg out a hit! Wish us luck tonight as we take on the Heat at 8:30!

Also we got our first sprouts today from our cucumbers!!! I will make sure to post some pictures soon.

Time to get MUDDY!!!!!

This weekend I will be running in my second Mud Run! It is a 5.4 Mile race with 32 Obstacles! I am really ready to get it going this year, last year I trained some but wasn't really sure what to expect, but this year I have been running and lifting 3-5 times a week to get in shape! I will be running with my friends Kyle, John, and Jeremy. Some of us are more ready than others so the last mile or two could get interesting! When Im done on Saturday it will be kind of bitter sweet though because now I will have to find my next event to train for.......

Here is a picture from last year with the Hidden Wounds Team
Did I mention that I will be running it TWICE!!!!! but more on that later........

Cheers to the fruits (and vegetables) of our labor!!

Ashley and I decided to attempt to grow some fruits and vegtables this summer, partly because it will save us some money and be good for us, but mostly for fun. After doing some research we decided to plant Cantalope, Watermelon, Onions, and Cucumbers. It was a nice sunny day about 90 degrees, so I did most of the manual labor, and Ashley planted the seeds and watered the bed really well. We will let you know how it goes!

Building your own raised garden box is a little work, but can be done! The materials you will need are:

3-2x6x8' Untreated boards (the treated kind can cause chemicals to contaminate your veggies)
1/2 cubic yard of top soil/compost mix
a couple of scrap 2x4 pieces
1 box of 2 1/2 inch deck screws
Seeds of Vegetables you would like to plant
